What it does on the back
For loosened skin the clinician uses the body tip at depth over the rolls and the lower back, where the tissue is thick, and the skin tightens over the three months after the course. For acne scars, in our practice, the 24-pin tip works at shallower depths across the scarred skin, and three to four sessions are usual, with the scars softening as collagen rebuilds beneath them. Active acne on the back is treated first, before Morpheus8, and the clinician says so at the free consultation.
The evidence
The device is FDA-cleared in the US for dermatological procedures needing coagulation or contraction of soft tissue. A 2026 review of radiofrequency microneedling across 41 studies found acne scars consistently improved. No published study measures the back alone, and we say so.
Who it suits, and the session
Rolls at the bra line and loosened skin on the lower back on skin that still has elasticity, or acne scars across the shoulders and upper back. At the higher energy levels the device is cleared in the US for skin types I to IV; darker skin is treated at lower settings. Numbing cream for 30 to 45 minutes, then the back in one session, with redness, swelling, grid marks and some bruising for several days. Loose clothing and no sun on the area for a week; the downtime page goes through the days. The change shows from about three weeks, peaks at three months after the last session, and lasts a year or more in our clinic's experience with one maintenance session a year.
