The face is the area Morpheus8 is best known for: a jawline that has started to soften, early jowls, the cheeks, lines across the forehead and around the mouth, and the texture and pores of the skin itself. The 24-pin face tip delivers radiofrequency heat at up to 4 mm below the skin, with about 1 mm of heat beyond the pins, to contract the tissue and build collagen. A course is three sessions, four to six weeks apart. From £295 per session at 8 Clinic, 8 Devonshire Place, with the price per area and per course in writing.
What it does on the face
The clinician works the face in zones with two or three passes at different depths. The passes go deeper over the jowl and the lower face where there is tissue to contract, shallower over the cheekbones, the forehead and the thin skin near the eyes, where the small 12-pin tip takes over. The heat contracts the deeper tissue during the session, the tightening shows from about three weeks, and the collagen that follows smooths lines and texture over the three months after the course. Morpheus8 is not a surgical facelift and does not lift heavy, hanging skin; it tightens the skin and the tissue under it where elasticity remains.
The evidence
The device is FDA-cleared in the US for dermatological procedures where coagulation (sealing by heat) or contraction of soft tissue is needed. Most published studies on the face combine Morpheus8 with another treatment. In a 2020 study of 247 patients treated on the lower face and neck with Morpheus8 and another radiofrequency device, 93% were pleased with the result. In a 2021 series of nine patients treated on the jowl and neck after a facelift, 55% showed marked improvement at six months and all were satisfied at three. A 2025 safety study of 364 foreheads, 364 eye areas, 353 mouth areas and 233 jawlines reported no darker or lighter patches (hyper- or hypopigmentation), scarring or prolonged redness.
Who it suits
A jawline that has started to blur, early jowls, a crepey or lined lower face, acne scars and enlarged pores, on skin that still has elasticity. At the higher energy levels the device is cleared in the US only for Fitzpatrick skin types I to IV; darker skin is treated at lower settings, and the clinician tells you at the free consultation what is safe for your skin. If you are petite or worried about losing volume in the cheeks, say so: radiofrequency heat can reduce fat, and the clinician plans the depths around it. Heavy, hanging skin at the jaw is more than Morpheus8 tightens, and the clinician will say so and plan the right treatment instead.

The session and the recovery
A strong numbing cream goes on for 30 to 45 minutes; a full face then takes 30 to 45 minutes, face and neck about an hour. Most patients in our clinic rate the sensation at 3 to 5 out of 10 with the numbing. Afterwards the face is red and a little swollen with the grid marks of the pins for two to five days. Makeup from day two, exercise from day four, no sun for a week, SPF 50 every day for a month. The downtime page goes through it day by day.
The course and the result
Usually three sessions four to six weeks apart, one or two for texture alone, three to four for acne scars. You see the change from about three weeks, the tightening peaks at three months after the last session, and it lasts a year or more in our clinic's experience with one maintenance session a year. The sessions page sets out the course.
