Loose skin, not fat
Morpheus8 is not a fat-removal treatment. If your double chin is lax skin, which the clinician tests by lifting it at the consultation, Morpheus8 tightens it and sharpens the line from the chin to the angle of the jaw. If it is mainly a fat pad, a different plan is needed, and the clinician says which it is at the free consultation. The neck itself is treated at shallower depths than the lower face, because the skin is thinner, and the clinician sets the depth and the energy for each zone.
The evidence
The device is FDA-cleared in the US for dermatological procedures where coagulation (sealing by heat) or contraction of soft tissue is needed. On the lower face and neck, a 2020 study of 247 patients treated with Morpheus8 and another radiofrequency device found 93% pleased with the result. Three patients had a temporary nerve weakness, and a small number had swelling lasting over six weeks or a hardened area; all of these resolved. A 2021 series of nine patients treated on the jowl and neck after a facelift found marked improvement in 55% at six months.
What decides the result
The neck is where depth and energy matter most, because the skin is thin, the fat beneath is wanted or unwanted depending on the person, and nerves run close. The clinician works at neck depths with the face tip, lower energy over thin skin, and plans around a slim neck where fat loss would show. The session and the recovery
Numbing cream for 30 to 45 minutes, then about an hour for the face and neck together. Redness, swelling and grid marks for two to five days, makeup from day two, exercise from day four, no sun for a week. The downtime page goes through it day by day.
